FAQs

How long does shipping take? How much is shipping?

Many of our items are made to order. Please visit our shipping page for more information.

What currency is your pricing?

Our pricing is in USD.

What is your return policy?

Disclaimer: We are aware that many online shoppers make purchases knowing that they are going to try on items and return most of their order depending on fit and preference. We appreciate wanting to buy clothes that fit, but we encourage customers to carefully select and purchase clothing to minimize returns. Online shopping is already quite unsustainable as packages are shipped around the world which has only increased in recent years. As our company strives for sustainable practices, we appreciate our customers keeping this in mind when making purchases.

Please note that all items purchased on sale or at a discount are final sale. All returns are reimbursed by store credit. Our policy lasts 30 days from the date of receiving your purchase which is available on the order tracker. To be eligible for a return, your item must be unused and in the same condition that you received it. Any item returned outside of the 30 day period will not be refunded.

Store Credit

Once your return is received and inspected, we will send you an email to notify you that we have received your returned item in good standing. Your refund will be processed and in-store credit will be sent to the email you used to purchase the item. If you submitted your refund and not received your in-store credit, please contact us at support@aestheticnoir.com. In some cases, we offer a full refund to your original payment source.

How do I make an exchange?

If you require an exchange for a different item/size, send us an email at support@aestheticnoir.com with your original order number and your newly requested item.

Please note that the buyer will have to pay return shipping but we will pay the shipping for the item to be sent back. Please contact us at support@aestheticnoir.com for further instructions. We cannot guarantee we will receive your item due to courier and shipping errors.

What is your approach to sustainability?

We are dedicated to sustainability throughout our operations. We take a holistic approach by focussing on every aspect of the supply chain. This includes using organic/vegan fabrics which makes them biodegradable in many cases. We also use sustainable vegetable dyes in most of our fabrics. We use minimal packaging to reduce waste.

One of the biggest contributors to greenhouse gas is shipping products worldwide and to minimize the amount of shipping we work closely with customers on their purchases and answer inquiries to minimize returns. There is a culture in North America of buying a large quantity of products and returning whatever doesn't fit. We want customers to not only fall in love with their items but also have them fit appropriately and we will do anything we can to assist in that process.

Lastly, we produce our products in small batches and do all we can to avoid contributing to fast fashion. Small batch clothing are garments that are made in a small production run, which typically means between 30 and 500 units (per run). In the past, clothing factories and manufacturers worked almost exclusively with ‘well-established’ brands on large scale orders; but today, small batch production has been gaining in popularity. Small batch clothing allows us to test different products and try more styles — meaning there’s also less inventory (and less waste) to try and manage. We do not add new products every few weeks or months, but rather once or twice each year. Some of our most popular products, we have been selling for years without change.

Why are your products gender neutral?

Fabric and style does not see gender. We know it’s possible to reject the framework of binary gender identity, and embrace what we and our communities want to wear without the stigma. There is already enough division in the world and we want to make clothing that is simply stylish on anyone, regardless of their gender. We support the LGBTQ+ community and hope you do too.

Why was I contacted to add a phone number or email to my order?

From time to time our payment processor flags certain actions at checkout. This is solely to prevent fraud and make sure that the credit card being used in the order has been authorized. If you have any more questions please send us an email.

How can I track my order?

Please enter your order number at this link to track your order.

I have a sizing question.

Beside each product description is a contact page to submit sizing questions. We will respond within less than an hour. All size charts are specific to each product. If you are concerned about sizing, go up a size rather than down. Our clothing tends to fit smaller.

Where do you ship from?

We ship from both Toronto, Canada and Huizhuo, China depending on the item and available stock. We are working to move all our manufacturing and distribution to Canada but have been delayed due to COVID-19 and global supply chain shortages.

How should I care for my new items?

  • We recommend washing your garments in cold water using a delicate setting.
  • Do not wash with light colours as the natural dyes might make your whites darker.
  • Do not bleach.
  • Hand wash items when available or use a delicate setting on a washing machine.
  • Please use a laundry wash bag when available to maximize the life span of these items.

How should I dry my items?

  • Hang dry items when available.
  • If using a drying machine is necessary, use a low heat or use the air dry setting for a long period.
  • Use the permanent press setting for synthetic fabrics.
  • Remove when finished, shake and hang on clothes hangers to further prevent wrinkles.

Should I iron my items?

We recommend hang drying and avoiding irons when available - if not, use a local dry cleaner for specialty items. If you plan to iron items yourself, please keep in mind the information below:

  • Cotton: Iron on high heat while the cloth is still damp to the touch. Use the steam and spray buttons generously as needed.
  • Silk: Iron the garment inside out on low heat, and just after a wash while still slightly damp—do not spray or steam. Again, use a pressing cloth if necessary.
  • Wool: Iron the garment inside out on medium-low heat, and use steam to dampen. (Iron onto a pressing cloth if desired, as an extra layer of caution.)
  • Polyester: Iron the garment on medium-low heat while still damp. Spray as necessary, but avoid steaming. (Steam and/or high heat can leave a plastic-like shine.)
